This Day In Basketball History:
September 30,2000 - Undefeated Team USA turns back France, 85-75, to win the Men's gold medal at the Sydney Olympics. A balanced scoring attack is led by Vince Carter's 14.8 ppg average. The US Women win the gold medal, defeating host Australia, 76-54. Leading the Americans to an 8-0 record are Lisa Leslie (15.8 ppg), Sheryl Swoopes (13.4 ppg) and Yolanda Griffith (11.5 ppg). Many may remember these Olympics best for Vince Carter's "Dunk of Death".
