August 29, 1977 - Roy Edward Oswalt is an American Major League Baseball relief pitcher for the Texas Rangers. Roy Oswalt is a starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers. A three-time All-Star, Oswalt has played for the Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies and Rangers since his 2001 debut. He was named Most Valuable Player of the 2005 National League Championship Series while with the Astros, as the team advanced to its only World Series appearance. Oswalt won a gold medal as part of the 2000 US men’s Olympic baseball team.
