July 25, 1997 - William Ben Hogan was an American professional golfer, generally considered one of the greatest players in the history of the game. Hogan is notable for his profound influence on the golf swing theory and his legendary ball-striking ability, for which he remains renowned among players and fans. Hogan had been in poor health since undergoing surgery for colon cancer, then contracting bronchitis soon afterward. Hogan suffered a fall at his home and had a stroke. Hogan later died in Fort Worth, Texas, and is interred at Greenwood Memorial Park there.
