July 26, 1975 - Joseph Leynard Smith is an American professional basketball player who last played at power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA. Smith was the first overall pick of the 1995 NBA Draft, played with a record-tying 12 NBA teams during his long career. After being named College Player of the Year at Maryland in 1995, Smith was chosen first by the Golden State Warriors and later named to the 1995–96 All-Rookie Team.
