Olympic History: Death of Demetrius Vikelas

July 20, 1908 - Demetrios Vikelas, or Bikelas was a Greek businessman and writer; he was the first president of the International Olympic Committee, from 1894 to 1896. After the 1896 Games were over, he stepped down. Vikelas died in Athens at the age of 73 years.
