This Day In Basketball History:

July 20, 2007 - The FBI was investigating an NBA referee. It was revealed that Donaghy, who has a gambling problem, placed tens of thousands of dollars in bets on games during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 season and had been approached by low-level mob associates to work on a gambling scheme. So began a sad chapter in the NBA as allegations of point shaving and gambling on games swirled around Donaghy and others. Donaghy was eventually sentenced to 15 months in prison.
