This Day In Olympic History:

July 20, 1986 - The USA holds off a frenzied second-half rally by the Soviet Union to win the gold medal game, 87-85, in the FIBA World Championship. Kenny Smith's layup with 15 seconds left gives the USA a four-point lead. Smith led the winners with 23 points.
