August 26, 1979 - Jamal Lafitte Lewis is a former American football running back in the National Football League. An All-Pro running back, Jamal Lewis played for the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns from 2000 to 2009. Lewis had his best year in 2003, when he rushed for 2,066 yards, the second-highest, single-season total in NFL history. For the effort, Lewis was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He also set the NFL’s single-game rushing record the same year by rushing for 278 yards against the Browns. Lewis was named to the NFL’s 2000s All-Decade Team and finished his career with 10,607 yards and 58 touchdowns.
