August 27, 1970 - James Howard "Jim" Thome is an American professional baseball player. Jim Thome is the designated hitter for the Baltimore Orioles and one of the top home run hitters in the history of baseball. A five-time All-Star, Thome has also played for the Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins since debuting in 1991. Thome is currently seventh on the all-time MLB home run list with 611.
